Garbage Service Changes for 2020

The Village of Mt. Zion has entered into an exclusive franchise agreement with Advanced Disposal to provide refuse, recycling and yard waste removal services effective January 1, 2020. The first pick-up date for the new once weekly service is Friday, January 3rd due to the New Year's holiday. Holiday weeks will push pick-up to Friday for all services. Observed holidays are New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.
Everyone within the village limits is required to have garbage collection service with Advanced Disposal. The new monthly cost for service set by the agreement is $21.00 per month. Included in the monthly fee is a 95 gallon refuse cart and a 65 gallon recycling cart. If you do not have a cart for either refuse or recyling, please contact Advanced Disposal at (217) 963-2788.
Effective January 1, 2020, refuse, recycling and yard waste will be picked up once (1) weekly on Thursdays. Residents are to place their refuse and recycling carts facing the curb (within 24 inches) every Thursday by 6:00 a.m. to ensure pick-up. Yard waste is seasonal April 1 - November 30 and should be in bundles or in bags at the curb.
Trash must be placed in an Advanced Disposal cart. Trash in bags or in an unapproved container at the curb will no longer be picked up.
**Customers of Advanced Disposal needing a special pick-up for large items are required to schedule a special pick-up by calling their customer service number. There is a small fee for large items. Please do not place these items at the street until the night before the scheduled pick-up day.
