The Village finalize a contract with Rita McDowall to be the economic development consultant for the Village. Rita has been instrumental in helping staff bring together the Village’s demographic information and available property inventory to help future investors.
The Mt. Zion EDC created a loan program to help area business owners upgrade their ground signs. Contact the Village Hall for more information.
Rt. 121 TIF Extension and Revision
I’m excited about the future of Mt. Zion. Mayor Robinson has been instrumental in bringing together all of the Mt. Zion community leaders to share in our vision of the future for the northern end of Rt. 121 here in the Village.
Community leaders from the Mt. Zion School District, the Mt. Zion Township, the Mt. Zion Fire District, and the Mt. Zion Library along with the Village of Mt. Zion have agreed to extend and rewrite the Gustin-Nelson Tax Increment Financing District.
Both Senator Frank Watson and Representative Bob Flider introduced their own bill in their respective chamber on behalf of the Mt. Zion TIF extension. It is expected to pass out of congress soon and be sent to the Governor's office for approval.
Once passed we will be able to help investors and developers to realize some of the ideas first put forward by the Governors Home Town Award winning teams, the Our Town and Our Town II committees.
It is those rare times like this when our community leaders unite and work together towards our future that reminds me of the tremendous vitality and vision our community is blessed with. It is this vitality and vision that has always been a part of the history of our town and I’m very happy to report that these qualities are still strong in our people.
