Excavation work continues on Fletcher Park as the lake begins to take on its final shape. Soil removed during construction of the pond is being used elsewhere within the park to build up various areas as specified in the park’s design plan. If you have been a frequent visitor to observe the construction site (from a safe distance of course) you may have notice that a 10 foot tall pipe with manhole cover has now disappeared as the surrounding area was built up around the pipe. Prior to construction, top soil was removed and stored separately for reuse as top soil once the major earthmoving work is done. While no physical on-ground structures will be built this season, next year we plan on developing some of the trails, initial parking, and hopefully the amphitheater. Congratulations to our public works staff for the great job they are doing in moving the Fletcher Park dirt around!
The Village is making a presentation to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to request funding support for the park. In addition, the Village Board of Trustees has authorized the Village Treasurer to issue bonds to help finance the construction of various components of the park.
Have a great and colorful fall!
